The Case for the Tech

Guess What Everyone!

It’s ok to use AI to create content!

I'll admit it: I use AI to help create content. In the past, executives gave notes to an assistant, the assistant wrote a draft, and then the executive edited that draft into a final piece. So why is it not okay to use AI as that same kind of assistant?

Here's some context: I was born in 1972. In school, I wasn't taught to write in my own voice — I was taught that good writing should be articulate, professional, and descriptive. Isn't that exactly how AI writes? And yet now we're told to add mistakes to "prove" a human wrote something. So if I take pride in my writing, am I supposed to dumb it down on purpose?

I use AI in two different scenarios, depending on the day.

1) When I have writer's block. I'll use Wispr Flow to brain-dump my thoughts, then upload that to Gemini to get a draft. I revise the draft — fixing mistakes, adding missing info, cutting what's unnecessary — and repeat that until the piece looks good. Then I run the updated draft through Claude for finesse. Last, I do a final review, and voilà: content is born.

2) On a day like today. I open a blank Google Doc and just start typing. I know, low-tech — but I remember typewriters, and I thought I was so cool when my mom bought me a word processor. Old habits. In this scenario, the piece goes straight to Claude and back to me when I'm done.

Why Gemini and then Claude? Claude is actually the better writer and editor, but going back and forth with it burns through a lot of tokens. I'd rather get my draft close to done before handing it to my master editor: Claude. Right now, I'm training a Claude Skill to write more like me, so I can skip the back-and-forth altogether.

Hopefully, someday soon, AI haters will stop making people feel bad for using this technology to help create content. To be clear, I'm not promoting letting AI write for you — this is a collaboration between a human and the technology.
